37th Annual Wooden Boat Festival

Date: September 6-8, 2013

Location: Port Townsend, Washington .

In program: The Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival is largest annual gathering of wooden boats in the world, with over 300 boats on display for the course of the Festival including  kayaks and Native canoes, double-ended cutters, tall ships, classic powerboats, working vessels, one-of-a-kind designs, row boats and one off experimental ships. Festival goers have the chance to baord many of the boats being exhibited and some captains do provide the chance for visitors to join their crew for a few hours!

Single day admission tickets cost $15 per person ($10 for kids on the over 65s) or a three day pass is $30 ($20 for kids and the over 65s)

In additional to the boat displays there is music all day long until midnight each day of the festival, special kids programs and the chance to enjoy some of the best food that Washington state has to offer.

The Annual Tacoma Maritime Festival

Date: August 24 & 25 2013 from 10am – 5pm.

Location: Thea’s Park and the Foss Waterway Seaport – Tacoma, Washington.

In program: A celebration of the working waterfront. Free harbor tours, historical boat exhibitions including pirate ships , dozens of street performers, great food and the best local beer are the highlights of this festival that celebrates the 46 miles of working waterways in Tacoma, WA and its 150 year old heritage.

Festival of Sail San Diego

Date: Friday August 30 thru Monday September 2, 2013. Open 9am to 7pm daily.

Location:  downtown area of San Diego on North Harbor Dr.

In program:  live entertainment, kid’s activities, food booths, Tall Ship tours, craft and business showcases, stationary historic vessel displays, beer garden and cannon gun battle sails .

More than twenty tall ships and other fascinating vessels from around the world will be visiting San Diego.

A Daily Festival of Sail Tall Ship ticket or Maritime Museum of San Diego Membership are needed to enter.

Lake Champlain, Vermont Maritime Festival

Date: August 15th -18th, 2013

Location: Burlington’s Lake Champlain Waterfront Park – 220 Lake Street, Burlington, Vermont

In program:  This three day maritime festival offers the chance to see dozens of boats – from antique sailboats to brand new concept craft – and get hands on with many of them while also enjoying a weekend of live entertainment, great local food and drink, the chance to purchase crafts of all kinds and much more. The Salem Maritime Festival

Date: Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 , 12pm – 4:00pm

Location: Historic Salem, Massachusetts

In program:  The festival is a celebration of centuries of maritime history in the area. Free harbor cruises on historic schooners, boat exhibits, live music, free hayrides around Salem, children’s crafts and face-painting, fine food and drink and a tide pool exhibit are just a few of the weekend’s attractions.

The Annual Hereford Inlet Lighthouse Maritime Festival

Date: July 20th & 21st    9am – 5pm

Location: North Wildwood, New Jersey.

In program: A celebration of New Jersey’s rich maritime history in addition to boat displays and lighthouse tours musicians and authors will be on hand to share tales of the sea, pirates will wander the gardens around the lighthouse and there will be crafts and great food and drink that everyone can enjoy.

Star Spangled Sailabration

Date: June 13-19

Location: Baltimore, Maryland

In program: In one of the biggest and most anticipated maritime festivals of the year more than 40 ships will sail into Baltimore’s famous Inner Harbor from all over the world, including Mexico, Brazil and Canada as well as the US to help Baltimore celebrate the 1812 Three Years War Bicentennial.

The Sailabration will feature free tours of the ships, dozens of waterside festivities, a thrilling  airshow featuring the famous Blue Angels, and the world-premiere of “Overture for 2012,” composed by the legendary Philip Glass. Admission prices for event vary.

11th Annual Cape Cod Maritime Festival
